Channing Wood - Miss Warner Robins 2009
Channing Wood, Miss Warner Robins 2009, is a 20 year old student at The University of Georgia. She is majoring in Genetics with intentions to obtain her Doctorate in Dentistry. A 2006 Houston County High School honor graduate, Channing studied Zoology abroad her freshman year of college in the Yucatan Peninsula and will be embarking this summer in the program "Without Borders" on a volunteer dental experience. A 3rd year HOPE Scholar and an Academic Competitive Scholar, she spends much time in her books. Aside from her education she is immensely involved with volunteering. She is a University of Georgia HERO philanthropist, volunteer for Athens Clarke County Library Homework Helpers Program, and a University of Georgia Habitat for Humanity Ambassador. Channing is also a ugaMiracle Team Member where she raises money and awareness for the Children's Miracle Network which benefits Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. She is the Northeast Georgia "Pass It On" Director and supports all efforts to ensure every child has a positive mentor, which is her platform.

Channing is an initiated member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and a Delta Tau Delta Sweetheart. Her other interests include belly dancing, working out, reading, singing (everywhere), and piano which she has played for 14 years. Channing is the first Miss Warner Robins to be crowned who also won the Warner Robins Outstanding Teen title. She went on to place 3rd Runner up at Georgia's Outstanding Teen Program in 2005. She was 2004 Miss Houston County High School and she also represented Warner Robins as Houston County's Junior Miss at Georgia's Junior Miss in 2005.

Last but not least, Channing is the proud daughter of Cheri Wood and Douglas Wood of Warner Robins. She has a beautiful older sister Brittany and two awesome younger brothers, Landon and Dillon. She would also like to show appreciation to "Big Daddy" David & Marianne Parrish of Montgomery, AL. Her family has always been an inspiration and by having such loving support her entire life, she believes that "giving is receiving." All it takes is one's precious time to be a child's friend and mentor. Channing plans on igniting "Pass It On" in Houston County Schools, so watch for her volunteer program in the spring.

Channing is honored to represent Warner Robins and wants to thank everyone for their love, support and generosity!
